Conway Foundation Application Guidelines

All organizations fitting the Foundation’s funding priorities and other criteria are welcome to apply for a grant by clicking on “Apply for a Grant” to the right.

Funding Priorities

The Foundation gives priority to family-endorsed programs and projects that benefit Catholic organizations, organizations working to eliminate poverty by providing services to people and families in poverty, and education programs in the Greater Cincinnati area.

Education grants are made to programs serving pre-school through college. The Foundation will consider applications for vocational education programs, but does not give scholarships to individuals for certification or degree programs.

In addition to the three priorities listed above, applicants to the Conway Foundation must meet the following criteria:

  1. Applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations.
  2. Preference is given to applicants providing services in Greater Cincinnati.
  3. Proposals from organizations outside the Greater Cincinnati area are only considered when solicited by a Trustee.
  4. Applicants must complete the online application form. Written or e-mailed applications are not accepted.
  5. The Board prefers that successful applicants wait two years before re-applying to the Foundation.

Grant Decisions

The Giving Committee meets twice per year, in spring and fall, to make grant decisions. The deadlines are provided to help applicants determine when they should apply. The application process is open year-round, but any applications received in April will be considered at the fall meeting. Likewise, any applications submitted in October will be discussed the following spring.

Typical Grants

The majority of grants awarded are $10,000 and less, although the Foundation encourages applicants to request what is needed rather than tailoring their application to a range.

The Foundation occasionally makes large grants of $100,000 or more. Applicants seeking one of these grants must complete the same online application form as organizations seeking smaller grants. The Giving Committee then decides if the application should be considered at a meeting of the full Board in the summer. Applicants are asked to provide additional information to the Board if their proposals are accepted for consideration at the summer meeting.
